That's right, I'm back!
I'll never forget when Rose moved back with me to the Valley.
For those of you who are saying, "Who's Rose?", I suggest you pick up "Into the Black" and read "Recruiting Kendra" before you go any further.

Okay, if you're still with me, I'm going to assume you either know who Rose is or don't care that I'm giving you details.
After our training, and then the extension after the disastrous ending, we were ready for time off. We were promised at least two months before either a mission or refresher training, so back we went. No point staying around New Orleans if we weren't working, right?
"What a dump."
"Hey!" I protested, pushing the door closed. "It's not that bad!"
She didn't say anything.
She didn't have to.
I'd been gone for almost three months, and in all that time I don't think anyone had entered my place. The air was dead. Completely. Stale and disgusting.
The spiderwebs did nothing to add to the decor.
And, well, it was a mess.
I'd had a party a couple nights before leaving for training, and my after-party care was never the best.
Frankly, I didn't care enough.
So there were empty bottles with various growths in them scattered across most surfaces, abandoned clothes, and, oh, fuck.
That was a pizza on the ceiling.
"Hotel?"
"Definitely," Rose agreed. "And tomorrow?"
"Yeah?"
"We go house-hunting."
I hadn't expected that level of commitment from her. We were in love, yes, and thinking of the future. I mean, I owed her a cat, right, and if that's not permanent, I don't know what is.
But a house?
"A house?" I echoed my thoughts.
Rose nodded.
"Yes. Because when you make me come, I don't want the neighbors to hear."
Now that I could get behind.
