I’ve decided to listen to Kendra (as she might say, “For once!”) and ask, because if I don’t ask, you can’t say yes.
See, writing is my full-time job; a couple years back, my position was eliminated, and so I had the opportunity (since we were planning to move) to devote my full time to writing. The only problem is writing takes a while to start getting into the black. While every book sold and every KU page read helps, it’s not enough to tip the balance.
So I’ve created a Patreon. You know about Patreon? Let me tell you a little bit about it.
I set up tiers, and – much like public radio or TV – you make a monthly pledge. For that pledge, you get a reward. The bigger the pledge, the bigger the reward.
I’ve set up tiers all the way down to $3 per month – a cup of coffee – and all the way up to $200. I’d love to get one or two people at the top tier, because I’ve set it up so whoever is doing it actually gets to collaborate with me on writing in the Cassidyverse, and I think it would be hugely exciting!
But realistically, if I can get a couple hundred people at the $3 tier, and a few dozen at the $9 tier, I’d be in a much better place. I can take this money and put it back into advertising and spreading the word about the Cassidyverse, which then encourages more sales and thus more demand and thus I write more and everyone wins!
