We're back; didja miss me?

I have to say, Fan Expo was quite the show this year! For the first time they expanded to four days - four FULL days - and wow, did we keep busy!

I'm still recovering.

But enough about me - what about my guest today? That would be the romance author Maren Jenner.

Let's meet her!

Maren believes that romance can be more than fluff and each story brings valuable lessons and healing to people who have been hurt, either through life circumstances or others’ actions. She enjoys writing relatable characters and always includes a dash of humor in her stories, because what is life without laughter? When she's not writing, she's spending time with her thirteen-year-old daughter who keeps her active, or she's reading a book from her never-ending TBR pile.

Maren is the author of the now complete Sweet Nothings trilogy which includes The Cupcake Standard, The Jellybean Dilemma, and The Red-Hot Stakes. Trigger warnings can be found on her website at www.marenjennerbooks.com

Her linktree has all her active social media accounts on it as well as her website. You can find it at: https://linktr.ee/marenjennerauthor

Star Trek or Star Wars? I can’t choose! My husband is a Trekkie and converted me. And I grew up on Star Wars! They’re both amazing.

Reboots – a great idea or a lack of creativity? It does feel a little like the movie industry has run out of ideas sometimes. Everything is a sequel or a reboot. But then I remember that the same trope can be used over and over in so many different ways. The same story can be told with a different spin as well.

A book you’re looking forward to release (by someone else)? I’m so excited for Kirsten Blacketer’s Of Death and Desire. It’s a period romantasy with The Mummy vibes and I had the privilege of beta reading it. It’s going to be soooo good.

When did you write your first book and how old were you? In my elementary school, we did a yearly event where we were given a blank booklet and told to write our own story. An acting group came out and selected several books from different grade levels and mine was chosen when I was in fifth grade. The feeling of watching my story come to life was so amazing, I’ve wanted to be a writer ever since.

What do you like to do when you’re not writing? Spend time with my family. In the summer, we try to take weekly beach trips to Lake Michigan, one of my favorite places that makes an appearance in many of my stories. We’re also a big fan of board games which is shown in my works.

Is there a trope you find yourself going back to in multiple works? Or one you avoid? I love found family, those bonds that are thicker than blood. I use that one a lot and it’s a main theme in my Sweet Nothings trilogy. I avoid bullies to lovers. Can’t read it, can’t write it. It’s too much for me.
